Well some time to myself today, a day of not working. This doesn’t happy very much these days with a 2 year old son.

So off to have a hair cut, bit of lunch then off to the gym. I have just joined the gym. I have managed to gain 2 stone over the last couple of month due to having an op, which went a bit wrong so ended up bed for about for weeks and comfort eating. So had the all clear to return to the gym so let’s home it’s doesn’t hurt to much. Just thinking of going gets me out of breath.. In some way I am looking froward to going but it’s going to take a little time for me to get back to my old fit health self and it begins today.

I am going to blog some pictures to later, not of me! ( pass the bucket) But pictures of my photograph work. Love taking picture and try to take pictures every day with either my canon or my iPhone.

Bye for now.

Flickr Hits

Wow, just been looking at my Flickr clicks.. I have had over 45,000 hits on my photos, that’s amazing. I am also glad to hear that Flickr is having as complete revamp this year so I am hoping it will look like the 500px.com website and be easier to use a share photos.

Flickr have parted company with Picnik photo editing software. Picnik is a google company and it will be moving over to Google+, I should imagine that Flickr, which is owned by Yahoo dont really get on with google. it’s just a rumour…lol. Flickr has said that they are going to replace picnik with an even better photo editing software direct from their website.

You can see my Flickr Photostream here and see what 45,ooo other people have looked at.

I joined Twylah.

Time to add another bit of social media to my ever growing net work caller Twylah. This is a great place to collect and display your twitter feed and shows you what you trends are. It’s what I have been looking for, its somewhere that all my tweets can come together. I have taken the following words for the  Twylah website.

“Use your Twylah page as you would any other website you own. Specifically, include your Twylah URL in your Twitter bio; tweet out your page; like it on Facebook; or +1 it. The more you promote your page, the better it performs and the more your current efforts on Twitter are leveraged”.

I just love the way it brings everything together. If you use Twylah well done you! if your not WHY NOT?

Go to  www.twylah.com  and ask for an invite, oh yea you need be invited. I guess this is just to check that you are a genuine Tweeter.

Take a look at my Twylah to see what your missing! or click here richcovephoto Twylah Fan Page

The end of my 365 project

I have today decided to give up with the 365 project I started on the 1st of January. The same thing happened last year. I don’t want to feel under pressure to update my blog everyday.

I am going revert back to the way I was adding to this blog over the past few months. I will still add pics and write about them a bit more.

I have also looked at the amount of social media I am involved in… They are the following feel free to click on the one of interest to you.

Flickr
Twitter
Facebook
500px
Scoopit
Klout
YouTube

And of course WordPress. I’m just Internet mad I think. So what with updating them everyday the 365 project gets in the way.
It feels better to have made that decision. Now back to the Internet.

Just wanted to give a bit of background on this photo.

I took this on a trip to Newquay. I was walking along the cliffs looking out to sea and saw this bird flying around the rocks. I decided to sit by the fence hiding behind some tall grass, I made a gap in the grass stuck my lens through and waited. I had seen him pop up her a couple of times while I was watching from a distance.

With in a few minutes he pop up on the wind right in front of me and I got this shot and many more if you take a look at my flickr account.

You could say I was lucky but I would like to think that I create my own luck. I had watched and waited for this bird and I anticipated his arrive in the position I was in. So no luck involved, just a great picture. I have had 115 hits on this picture just today so thanks for looking.

I will now stop blowing my own trumpet!

The past 10 testing days

The last 10 days have been a testing time for me. After deciding not to have any more children it was agreed that I would have a vasectomy. I spoke to a few friends about it and it all seemed to be a straight operation. So I decided to book myself in for the op.

Arrived at the appointment with a surprising amount of confidence and calmness.  I was greeted by a nurse with a big smile on her face and she said ” mmmm you must be here for the snip?” not sure how she knew, I must have had my hands in my pockets I guess.

I was called in to the operation room told to strip from waste down. There were four people in the room two nurses and a surgeon and a doctor to assist. I’m not a shy person so dropping my trousers wasn’t a problem. The nurses didn’t laugh and point which was a relief.

Hopped up onto the operating table. It was at this point that one of the nurses pointed out that I had one of my socks on inside out, I said “thanks for pointing that out but to be honest at this point that’s the least of my worries. I look to the Surgeon for support he just smiled and pinged his gloves. “just going to have a feel round” he said, at least his hands were warm. “You’re going to feel a small scratch” he said as he injected my nuts! I can tell you it was no scratch unless you have ever been scratched but a fully grown male lion.

The nurse held my arms against my chest. I wanted to have my right hand free so I could hold surgeons nuts in my hand and every time he hurt me I could give his nuts a squeeze. I wasn’t allowed to do that, shame.

I could feel him pulling and tugging and I told him it was still painful. So with more injections given I started to sweat, by all the confidence and calmness had gone out of the window. I could feel the nurse holding my hands a bit tighter.

The worst thing was there was a clock on the wall and I was watching the time, they said it would take 10 minutes, yea right! 10 minutes had gone and surgeon said “will have this sorted in a few minutes it’s all a bit tangled in here” Great knots in my nuts! After about 20 minutes he said “there you go that’s the left side done, now on to the right” so more injections and 10 minutes later all done and stitched up.

The next thing I was asked to go into a room with a Doctor and he would explain what happens from here. I will not go into detail and samples and test tubes. While I was sat there I thought this doesn’t feel too bad. Then the doctor said “we have put a lot of local in there and we have had to move things around a lot, you will be bruised and in the next hour or so it will be painful but you should be able to go to work tomorrow”

He was right it was painful when it came round and the next day I was black and blue. The thing they forgot to tell is that I would get an infection over the next couple of days and end up back at the GP. It is now 10 days post op, I’m still off work and taking medication to fight the infection. Things are on the mend.

Hope this doesn’t put you off having a vasectomy. I have friends that have had the op and gone back to work straight after the op. it just seemed to be a bit complicated for me.

So finger crossed (not legs) I will be better soon.
